Aggiungi Tag | Riassunto: | The title of the study was factors that contribute high mortality rate in physically ill psychiatric patients in medical ward at Kamuzu Central Hospital. The sample of 30
nurses were purposefully selected in the medical wards in nurses who have worked six months to over 20 years. The research data was collected using a questionnaire and was analysed by EPI INFO version 6 Computer Program and analysed using the Social Science Statistical Program (SSPS) version l l. The findings have revealed that lack of staff, supervision by the nurse managers and materials, shortcuts in nursing procedures influence the mortality rate. In addition, lack of in-service education and refresher courses on the care of physically ill psychiatric patients are highly contributing to the
mortality of the patients. The information collected will improve nursing modalities that are rendered to the patients hence reducing the mortality rate. It has further encouraged the nursing managers to take supervision and guidance of nurses seriously and with conscious since patients are dying because of simple mistakes that nurses are doing in the medical wards. |
