Gaia:This is a qualitative research proposal whose purpose is to establish the social and psychological challenges faced by infertile clients seeking treatment at Mzuzu Central Hospital. Infertility cases in Malawi are increasing due to sexually transmitted infections and also post-partum infections as a result of unsafe deliveries. The problem of infertility does not threaten one's physical health, but it leads to social and psychological hardships depending on how the couple and society value children and attainment of parenthood. Fertility services seem not to be a main goal for most hospitals in Malawi, such that infertile clients in communities are not aware that limited fertility services are available. Mzuzu Central Hospital is trying to offer these services comprehensively, therefore, the need to explore the challenges that infertile clients face in accessing care at the hospital. The study will use an in-depth interview on one to one basis to get the necessary data.
