Summary:The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify factors contributing to girl child sexual abuse (CSA) with special reference to patients in the gynaecological ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. The need to carry out this study came following the increase incidences of girl child sexual abuse in Malawi. This explored the causes of child sexual abuse as one form of child abuse and the researcher together with the guardians came up with preventive measures of CSA. The researcher collected data from parents or guardians' face to face using an interview giude.Data has been analyzed using content analysis. The results have been presented using tables, chart, graphs and narrative form. This study's outcome will benefit parents, girls, health workers and government on how CSA can be prevented. This study has revealed that the factors that make the girl child to be sexually abused are men not being able to control their sexual desires at that particular time, being given bad advice by the traditional doctors and adults wanting to infect young children with HIV in the hope of cleaning themselves
