Summary:The aim of the study is to explore the knowledge, attitude and perceptions of women who have had an abortion towards use of contraceptive methods and conception. The setting is gynaecological ward at Kamuzu Central hospital (KCH). Participants are women who have experienced an abortion. Sample of 10 post abortal women will be used. This is a qualitative study which will use a descriptive d sign to describe more on the knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of post abortal women and Health Belief Model is used as the conceptual framework. Data will be collected through in-depth interviews using an interview guide, will be analysed manually using content analysis method and findings will be disseminated through reports. Recommendations will be made on strategies to be put at the ward to ensure effective use of contraceptive after an abortion in order to prevent conception before six months after an abortion.
