The study used a qualitative approach and it was conducted in Blantyre at Ndirande health centre, youth corner. A survey method of data collection was adopted complementing secondary analysis of existing data from different sources. Data was sourced from literature review and in-depth interviews of the youth who often use both condoms, and analysis of available data was employed to address the problem at hand.
The broad objective of this study was to explore factors contributing to utilisation disparities between Chishango and Manyuchi condoms, amongst the youth. These condom brands are commonly found in Malawi, and are found in all shops, groceries, towns, cities and in all locations. This broad objective was achieved through the following specific objectives: Identify knowledge of youth on condoms Analyse the attached misconceptions that affects utilisation of (a)Chishango (b) Manyuchi condoms.
Assess perceived inherent characteristics that influence utilisation of (a) Chishango (b) Manyuchi condoms. Assess the social marketing and communications undertaken by promoters that influence utilisation of: (a) chishango (b) manyuchi |
