Summary:This proposal will be done in partial fulfillment of the Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Nursing. The title of the study is the prevalence of depression among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic at Monkey Bay Community Hospital. The purpose of the study is to investigate the prevalence of depression among pregnant women. A quantitative research design will be adopted in this study. Convenient sampling technique will be used to select the sample. A total sample of 30 pregnant women will be recruited at the antenatal clinic for this study. A validated Chichewa version of self reporting questionnaire will be used to collect data from eligible participants. Data analysis will be done manually. The results will be presented in tables, charts and graphs. Participant's verbal and written consent will be obtained before participating in the study. Confidentiality and anonymity will be maintained throughout the study by selecting a room where interviews will be conducted, making sure that only the researcher has access to data collected by using codes instead of names.
