description This is a proposal for a study to investigate practices, attitudes and challenges of men and women on disclosure of HIV infection to their sexual partners at Kamuzu Central Hospital. The study will identify practices of men and women on disclosure of HIV infection to their sexual partners, explore attitudes of men and women on disclosure of HIV infection to their sexual partners, assess challenges of men and women on disclosure of HIV infection to their sexual partners and examine strategies which will make more people to disclose HIV infection to their sexual partners The research design to be used for this study is qualitative. The study will involve 10 women and 10 men who are HIV infected from male and female medical ward at Kamuzu Central Hospital. Ethical consideration will be followed during the selection of the participants. Questionnaires will be provided to each participant in order to collect data from them and both open and closed-ended questions will be used to collect more information from participants. The collected data will be analysed using a computer and the other data will be interpreted manually using a calculator. The results of this study will help to identify some of the factors that prevents people whether married or not from disclosing their HIV infection to their sexual partners so that necessary interventions are made to allow more people to be able to disclose their HIV to their sexual partners. As a result, this will help to increase safer sex among partners thereby reducing HIV transmission rate. The result of the study will be distributed through a written report to Kamuzu College of Nursing research committee and District Health Officer of Lilongwe.
