Achoimre:The research will use descriptive evaluative design in a survey with questionnaires and interviews. The study will therefore use a qualitative as well as quantitative research techniques. The study will examine the extent of community participation in Safe Motherhood (S.M.) activities. A convenient sample of seventy subjects will be drawn from catchment areas of three Health Centers (WC). Two villages will be randomly selected from each H/C catchment area. The study subjects will include women, men, village influential leaders, and health workers at H/C level. The expected results should focus low community participation in S.M. due to poor leadership styles lack of participation in carrying out community needs assessment in S.M., poor community organization and lack of capacity building at village level.
