總結:INTRODUCTION This is a proposal to conduct a study aimed at exploring knowledge and perception of guardians towards general danger signs in under-five children at Kamuzu Central Hospital .In this proposal literature review on studies done worldwide, in Africa and Malawi; relating to this study has been included. The conceptual framework to be used in the study is the Health Belief Model. METHODOOLOGY A qualitative research design will be used in which in depth interviews will be used to find out knowledge and perception of guardians towards general danger signs in the under-five children. A total of 10 participants whom their children are admitted in the ward with different conditions will be interviewed in the study. DATA ANALYSIS Data obtained will be analysed using content method of analysing data. The findings of the study may help to reduce the underfive mortality rate if guardians are equipped with knowledge on general danger signs and prompt treatment may be sought in good time because for the children in Malawi, health outcomes are largely determined by the decisions made in the household, by the family and especially by the father and mother.
