Summary:The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge and home management of chicken pox. It aims at exploring peoples' ideas on chicken pox and what people do at home to treat and prevent this disease hence reducing misconceptions and shortfalls that were being practiced at home. The study will be conducted at Kamuzu Central Hospital, Skin Department. The study will use qualitative research design and convenient sampling will be used in the study where by a sample of 10 patients will be used. Data will be collected through face to face interview using semi-structured questionnaire developed by the researcher and it will be analyzed manually. The Health Belief Model will be used to guide the study as a conceptual frame. The permission to conduct the study will be sought from Kamuzu College of Nursing, Research and Publications Committee and from the Ministry of Health as well as from the District Health Office of Lilongwe. The analyzed data will be presented on tables and histograms in categories indicated by the interview guide.
