總結:The study was done in Lilongwe city in the areas of Biwi, Mchesi and Kawale in the month of November 2008. The purpose of the study was to assess the knowledge and perceptions of women of child bearing age on tetanus toxoid vaccine. A convenient survey of 30 women in the child bearing ages was chosen. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire contained both open and closed questions. The data was analysed manually. Health Belief Model has been used as a conceptual framework of the study. The results revealed that women receive the tetanus toxoid vaccine when they are pregnant and are attending the antenatal clinics, when they deliver they don't continue the schedule due to reasons like fear of vaccine. The young women who have never been pregnant do not access the vaccine, therefore it is important that health personnel give adequate information on the importance of finishing the scheduled doses and encourage young women to receive the vaccine.
