description A lot of research has described how women grieve when there is a loss but very little is known of men. This study focused on the experience of men when there is stillbirth in the family. The purpose of the study was to explore the experiences of husbands whose wives had stillbirth. A phenomenological approach was used. The participants were obtained through the admission and delivery book of 2002-2003 at old wing of Lilongwe Central Hospital. Women who had stillbirth were asked for consent to inmate of specific behaviors. The interviews were tape-recorded. Data was analysed using content analysis. Three themes were generated from the data and these were sadness, disappointment and interview their husbands. Sample of seven men was interviewed and observations were bitterness. The findings demonstrated that men too grieve when there is a stillbirth. Individuals have unique experiences. Health personnel inadequately manage these men. Results will be disseminated to the management committee of Lilongwe Central Hospital and a copy of results will be made available at KCN Library.
