Ամփոփում:This exploratory study investigated the factors leading to readmission of severe malnourished under-five children in the Out Therapeutic Care Program (OTP) at Salima District Hospital. The research design was descriptive in nature and used quantitative approach whereby numerical and measurable information was collected. The target group for participation was under five children from 6 months to 59 months, who were once admitted due to severe malnutrition and were back with the same problem of severe malnutrition, and included both sexes. A semi-structured self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data. A sample of 30 subjects was studied. Using purposive sampling the subjects were recruited from the OTP register of the hospital. Data analysis was done by entering it in a computer and statistical package for social scientist (SPSS) for windows 16 was used and presented in form of tables, graphs and narration. The results of the study showed that readmission is more prevalent in children who are HIV positive than those who are negative, in families with low socioeconomic status and those with poor feeding practices.
