Confidentiality and anonymity of the subjects was adhered to, and all subjects gave an informed consent to participate in the study. Findings of the study revealed that the majority (76.6%) of the respondents had a high level of knowledge regarding causes of cholera; transmission; signs and symptoms and its prevention strategies. However, although the level of knowledge was high, the respondents' practices were so unhygienic that they p redisposed themselves to cholera infection. The findings showed that 53% of the respondents had no toilets, 60% had no access to clean water, and the community hand washing practices were poor.
