description AIM: The aim of this study was to explore the knowledge, practices and challenges in the utilization of reproductive health services among physically disabled women in Blantyre at FEDOMA in Limbe. The objectives of the study included the assessment of the level of knowledge physically disabled women have on reproductive health, finding 1 out if these women utilize reproductive health services and identification of the challenges that they face in the utilization of reproductive health services. METHODOLOGY: It was a quantitative study and the data was collected using a self 1 administered semi-structured questionnaire from thirty participants and analysed using a statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). RESULTS: Physically disabled women in this study had information about reproductive health services although it was not really adequate. The services were available to them from the government health facilities. However, there are some gaps on the type of service provided since they only went for antenatal and family planning. It was also established that the participants utilized reproductive health services and they utilized the services from government health facilities. Reproductive health services were utilized only when participants had problems like being pregnant and not for preventive purposes. There were mixed ideas on satisfaction with the services, however the majority of the participants were satisfied with the services while just a few were not. Challenges mostly faced by participants were lack of adequate information on reproductive health, transport problems, inequality in the provision of services by healthcare providers, negative attitude of health care providers towards reproductive needs of disabled women, poor interaction with health care providers and discouragement from friends not to utilize the services. Recommendations have been suggested for improvements in nursing practice, nursing education, nursing management and nursing research.
