description This study was aimed at establishing the knowledge of in-mates and control measures of scabies at Maula Prison among the male in-mates. This study employed a qualitative design incorporating semi-structured questionnaire to interview the subjects. A probability random sampling method was used to identify 15 participants recruited for the study. Approval to conduct the study was sought from KCN Research and Publications Committee and The Regional Prison Officer for the Central. Informed consent from the participants was sought before conducting the study and that confidentiality and all other ethical considerations were ensured throughout the process of conducting this study. Data was analysed manually by content analysis. The study established that despite the high prevalence of scabies at the prison, knowledge of in-mates on scabies was very high in terms of causes, transmission, prevention as well as complications. The study revealed the high prevalence of scabies was associated with poor integration of control measures like medical and therapeutic management. Re- infection was identified as contributing to the high prevalence of scabies resulting from delay in receiving treatment, failure to monitor contacts and lack of isolation.
