consultation with a view of making recommendations that would improve patient care, by empowering nurses to participate in matters concerning ethical dilemmas. Specifically study was done to asses nurses knowledge and experience on ethics consultation. to determine common ethical and issues encountered and to identify factors that
hinder nurses in initiating consultations when faced with ethical problems. This research was
done at St Lukes Hospital. A qualitative design used on a sample of ten participants who are qualified nurses recruited using convenience sampling method. An in-depth interview
guide was used as data collection tool and data was analyzed manually using content
Feedback received from the participants further shows that the knowledge that is obtained from the nursing college is missing some elements which is contributing to lack of utilization
when they graduate from colleges and start work. The findings also suggest some hindering factors that are related to the negative perception of participants towards ethics problem solving. "The findings will enlighten the relevant authorities to put in place the necessary
mechanisms that will enhance ethics consultation. |
