Resumo:This study will utilize qualitative method to explore factors that hinder smear positive TB clients from bringing their children for TB screening at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH). The study intends to find out these factors so that measures can be put in place to promote childhood TB screening to protect children from TB. A purposive sample of thirty smear positive TB clients with children will be recruited voluntarily into his study. Data collection will be done by the use of an interview guide with both open and close ended questions. Data analysis will be done by analyzing the information collected manually. The results of the study are believed to be used in the nursing education, practice and research. The Health Belief Model will be used as a conceptual frame work to guide this study so as to explore the client's perceptions on benefits of TB screening. The model will further assist in exploring the participants' perception on severity and how susceptible their children are to TB.
